Best Cookies to Mail for the Holidays

While there are many things to love about the holidays, we can all agree that there might just be one thing we love the most about the season: all of the delicious cookies!

The holidays are a time for sharing time, gifts, and delicious treats with our neighbors and loved ones. However, 2020 has completely altered all of our usual traditions, leaving us to think about creating new ones with the people we love the most.

One of our favorite holiday traditions pre-COVID was our in-person cookie swaps. This year, we are changing our plans to mail out our sweet treats. Cookies can be seemingly sturdy, but are actually quite delicate and can break easily in transport.

Below are three recommendations for the best cookies to bake & mail!

1. Salted Chocolate Chunk Shortbread Cookies

These cookies broke the internet last year. Alison Roman’s recipe became so famous, that they started their own hashtag on social media. This recipe blends the best of chocolate chip cookie and shortbread cookie recipes. The combination is brought together by a pinch of flaky sea salt. Not only are these cookies a twist on two-holiday favorites, but they’re sturdy and perfect for mailing.

2. Gingersnap Cookies
To us, no holiday is complete without gingersnap cookies. The perfect gingersnap is a combination of a little sweet & spicy, and a bit chewy with crisp edges. This recipe by Cookies & Cups is the most festive and a favorite among us.

3. Fruitcake Christmas Cookies

This cookie is hearty and packed with flavor, featuring a select assortment of fruits and nuts. For those who are a fan of a cookie with lots of texture and rich taste, we highly recommend you trying this recipe out! The best part about these cookies is that they taste better over time, which is perfect if there happens to be any shipping delays!

While traditions are ever-changing because of COVID-19, mailing out cookies gives you the chance to start some new ones such as spreading holiday cheer both near and far, and spending time with your family, roommates or even by yourself making some sweet treats. We hope you enjoy these recipes.
